Care Management of Cattle

CARE MANAGEMENT

     Today, we are going to learn about the care management techniques for cattle.  Care management comprises of the procedures to be undertaken while rearing cattle to achieve optimum results for better growth and development. It is one of the major steps in animal husbandry. Just providing food and shelter doesn't yield any produce. Good maintenance , utmost care and friendly environment sums up to create a better farm.

Care management technique for calf:


AFTER CALVING:


1.Ascertain whether the calf is breathing (respiration)

2. If Not:

           a) Induce respiration by  by tickling the inside of the nostril with a clean piece of hay or straw.

           b)Try CPR


3. Trim the Hoof within 1 hour to facilitate standing

4. Feed the calf with colostrum for 5 days,

5.Colostrum given should be 1/10th of its body weight.

WEANING:

    Separation of young calf from dam (female parent).  Done within 4-5 days incase of commercial farming.

10-15 days - disbuding

1st month - Adding identification mark, deworming after one month.

At Last, Keep The Calf in Pen.
